UPDI stands for Unified Program and Debug Interface It's designed to make programming modern ATtiny chips very easy because it has 3V or 5V power and logic select, power transmit and receive indicator LEDs.

TTL stands for Transistor Transistor Logic, a form of serial communication. It interfaces with protocols (like UART) found on many development boards and microcontrollers for debugging or communication/programming. The ATtiny has Rx and Tx lines that can be used for serial communication. This is where enabling TTL would be necessary. So instead of buying another programmer to debug your ATtiny consider this product over others! 

Examples of UPDI programmable devices include ATtiny816, ATtiny817 and ATtiny1616 chips.

Works with the Arduino IDE on PC and Mac seamlessly. 

This UPDI/TTL compatible board makes programming AND debugging such chips very easy:

• Select between 3V or 5V power and logic - the 3V regulator can source up to 500mA so it can run even big projects. 
• Select between UPDI mode for programming or TTL mode for debugging using the switch. - This is a 1K SELECTABLE Loop-back Resistor between RX and TX. Switch modes on the fly!
• CH340E USB Serial converter chip with cross-platform drivers
• USB Type C for data and power connection to any computer
