The device requires both more design and more development. For instance, the case has nowhere to store the charger (design issue) and there are things like a video of a guy talking about 50 machines that can be built from scratch, but the designs are not there. There are also things that are unnecessary such as some guy who never bugged out in his life going on about his bug-out bag. Interviews with people who actually have had to survive a refugee column would provide better information, but when someone would actually need this ACID device it would be too late to be assembling a bug-out bag. Also, there doesn't seem to be any way to easily update the data stored on the device. Should be able to pull the drive and slap in another, to be able to update the device.
Overall very pleased with the end product! The only Wishlist item would be a simple way to update the box with new information/videos periodically so that it's value increases with time as new scientific, geographic, mathematical, medical, "etc" information is shared. Otherwise, as a product of the moment in time that it's made, absolutely fantastic, and happy to have purchased!
I am very satisfied with my purchase. The price point made me a bit nervous but after seeing reviews of similar products I decided to take a chance. It performs beautifully.
Craftsmanship is Top Notch... I went for the Laptop with Solar Panel and Faraday Bag so I'd have a standalone kit. I enjoy supporting makers of quality and this is a quality piece of equipment. I didn't mind spending the money because I don't have the time or patience to build something this cool. Even the USB cable is QUALITY...
I spend a lot of time in third world or off grid places and I'll enjoy this more than any other piece of gear I have because I can read and entertain myself with information that matters. I also can provide information that's useful for natural disasters, education, etc...in places like Nepal while I'm helping locals rebuild after an earthquake or something similar. It's weatherproof and quite possibly my favorite thing that I own now. I'm a simple man... haha
Been using the Gutenberg Project section to read Shakespeare and Emerson for the last two days. I could literally spend the rest of my life reading books on this thing and not come close to running out of options. It's like carrying a municipal library of useful and worthy literature in my backpack. I don't even mind the weight because of the usefulness of the information and the ability to share with others. This will go everywhere with me from here on out.
I’m glad i discovered this special computer. I opened it right away and got familiar with it.
I haven’t gone off grid but it’s a plan and this will be great for when the time comes.
